Conceived as a high-profile initiative by the Overseas Singaporean Unit, the Distinguished Business Leaders (DBL) Series was launched in August 2006. It seeks to create a platform for interaction between Singapore-based companies and the Overseas Singaporean community. This is to enable Overseas Singaporeans to stay abreast of developments in the various sectors of the Singapore economy and that of the wider Asian region.

The DBL Series would be of particular interest to Overseas Singaporeans wishing to find out more about the job and business opportunities in Singapore and the Asian region.

With Singapore as its manufacturing base and Group headquarters, Tee Yih Jia produces its world-famous spring roll pastry and wide range of ready-to-eat Asian convenience foods such as roti prata, crepes, mini prawn rolls, glutinous rice balls, spring rolls and samosas. Apart from its state-of-the-art factory in Senoko, the Group also has manufacturing plants in Johor (Malaysia), China and the US.

Tee Yih Jia began as a small, labour-intensive spring roll pastry producer in 1969. Mr Sam Goi, Executive Chairman, acquired the Company from its founders in 1977 and re-engineered the business by automating the manufacturing and quality control processes, as well as establishing global distribution channels for its products.

Tee Yih Jia has since grown from strength to strength, and has established itself as a global food manufacturer, distributing its food products all over the world.

In 1988, Tee Yih Jia formed a joint venture with the China Pacific group to build a plant in Fuqing (Fujian Province) to manufacture spring rolls, samosas and biscuits. Aside from being the first food processing company in Fujian to attain the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9002, it was also the first to receive European Union clearance for the export of fishery products to Europe.
